The kennel “El-Chiquitin” was founded in 1963 by Joachim Weinberg in Hamburg, initially for the breeding of Chihuahuas. Joachim Weinberg was the first importer of long-haired Chihuahuas in Germany, worked for several decades as a specialty and group judge both nationally and internationally, and was the recipient of the Baron von Gingins Memorial Medal for outstanding contributions to the advancement of dog breeding.
In addition to Chihuahuas, Chinese Crested Dogs, Pomeranians, and Shar Peis were later bred in this kennel. In 1995, Arne Schwarz joined the kennel as a partner and, after the death of Joachim Weinberg in 2019, continued to run it with Chihuahuas as well as the Schipperke breed. Arne Schwarz has also been active for many years as an FCI judge, nationally and internationally.
From the “El-Chiquitin” kennel, countless champions and 22 world winners to date have emerged. Exports have been made to over 20 different countries.
